MFA

It's Saturday, and as promised, the My First Anime newsletter is back with its fourth edition! I hope you're doing well and enjoying plenty of anime. Now, let's dive into what I have in store for you today.

News About Upcoming Anime

  1. Manga author Hirokazu Yasuhara's heartwarming comedy, Cultural Exchange With Game Center Girl, about a cute British girl, is getting a TV anime adaptation. Yasuhara announced the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, along with a special illustration to celebrate. The story centers on Renji Kusakabe, a young man who works part-time at a game center arcade. One day, he meets an English girl named Lily, and they begin an unlikely friendship by trading diaries and sharing their cultures.

  1. On Wednesday, the official website for Shotan's comedy slice-of-life manga You Are Ms. Servant revealed new staff members and released a second teaser promo for the anime. The series will start airing on October 6, and viewers can watch it on Crunchyroll as soon as it airs in Japan. The story follows Hitoyoshi Yokoya, a high school student living alone, meets a girl who offers to be his maid. She reveals she's a former assassin, making him nervous, but after she saves his life, he lets her stay. Though she has no household skills, her time with Hitoyoshi helps her feel emotions she's never had before. She asks for a new name, and he names her Yuki. As Yuki tries to leave her dark past behind, she begins to find warmth and a sense of family with Hitoyoshi.

ANIME TO WATCH THIS WEEK

In this edition, I'll be recommending two fantastic romantic anime: After the Rain and Arakawa Under the Bridge. Both are great shows that I think you'll really enjoy!

After the Rain

After the Rain isn't your typical romantic anime. The story centers on the unusual relationship between a middle-aged man and a young high school girl, which might seem a bit odd at first. But trust me, by the end, you'll find yourself rooting for them, hoping for a touch of magic to make everything right. Despite its premise, the story never feels uncomfortable, and the true essence of the anime goes far beyond romance. The plot follows Akira, a young student and former track star, who starts to fall for her middle-aged boss, Masami, while working part-time at a restaurant. Both characters are at significant crossroads in their lives, making their connection even more meaningful.

Arakawa Under the Bridge

Arakawa Under the Bridge leans more towards comedy than romance. In fact, there's not much romance at all—it's mostly about the laughs. So, if you're looking for pure romance, this might not be the one for you. The real strength of this anime lies in its quirky characters, not the storyline. Overall, it's a very good and underrated anime. The story follows Kou Ichinomiya, who has always followed his wealthy family's rule to never be in debt to anyone. But when his life is saved by a homeless girl named Nino under the Arakawa Bridge, Kou feels he must repay her. To do so, he promises to be her boyfriend, leading to his unexpected new life under the bridge.

POSTS PUBLISHED THIS WEEK ON MY FIRST ANIME

In this post, I've highlighted some of the best anime featuring only female protagonists. I believe female anime fans will appreciate these selections, as they showcase the strength, charm, and resilience of female characters. However, these anime are meant to be enjoyed by everyone because they offer beautiful, engaging stories with meaningful messages. And let's be honest—who doesn't love anime girls? They're not only cute, but they also help us unwind and escape from our daily stress. I hope you find your next favorite anime from this list!

ANIME MEME

This edition's anime meme is inspired by the latest news about the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen film, which I covered in the last newsletter. Not gonna lie—this was my exact reaction when I heard a new JJK film is on the way! 😑

That's all for today! Thanks for reading, and I'll see you again on Tuesday!

Thanks, Madao from MFA.
